Castor was a four piece from Champaign, Illinois. They put two full lengths out, Castor and Tracking Sounds Alone, both on Mud Records, as well as a 7 inch for "Carnival" b/w "Miss Atlantic". They toured with various bands including Braid, Compound Red, Hum (Jeff Dimpsey once played keyboards for them when they did a cover show of Weezer for the Great Cover-up in Champaign), Very Secretary, and The Promise Ring.Their sound is tough to nail down, but it's somewhere in that giant indie rock genre. Castor's sound has been aptly described as "liquid melodicism." The debut cd was much more subdued, and TSA blew it open sound-wise.
